Kapa Haka

Culture & Language

Kia ora, nau mai ki Te Kapa Haka o Te Oneroa o Kahu. Welcome to our Long Bay College Kapa Haka. Wea re involved in the school pōwhiri at the start of the year and other school and cultural event, such as the Cultural Festival in term 1 and the end of year academic prizegiving. The group also performs at the Kāhui Ako Matariki Celebration, Te wiki o te reo Māori community events, and more. Ākonga are involved in wānanga / workshops to learn specialities like poi and taiaha and to create their own poi. Practices are held once a week or more frequently if closer to an event. Ākonga from all cultures are welcome to join this kapa. Haere mai! Join us to make new friends, learn new skills, and step up into leadership opportunities.

We have come out of lockdown and all students, staff and persons on-site are safely accounted for.  Everyone did extremely well and responded to instructions. A notice will be going out to parents/caregivers tonight to provide some more information on what has occurred today.
