Careers Centre

Careers

The Careers Centre is a place where first steps are taken on the career pathway for students.  The Centre is available to assist students with subject selection and preparation for tertiary study and the world of work.

There is a wide range of resources available:

  • Career Central, an online programme which provides personalised career planning.
  • One-on-one sessions with the Careers Advisor.
  • Prospectus and course booklets for universities, polytechnics, private training providers, industry training programmes and apprenticeships.
  • Guest speakers from tertiary institutions and employers.
  • Advice on CV and application letters.
  • Gateway, STAR, and work experience opportunities.

Career Counselling

Students can book a one-on-one career counselling session with the school’s Career Counsellor. Parent / caregiver enquiries are also welcome. Pop into Careers to make an appointment.

Option Choices

During Term 3, Atawhai Leaders, Deans and Careers assist students with making their subject choices for the following year.  Atawhai lessons will give information about options and pathways for students.

Gateway

Gateway is our work experience programme designed to give students a taste of the working world. It offers a structured work experience placement with a local employer as well as the opportunity to attend First Aid, Customer Service and Health & Safety workshops.

STAR Courses

STAR Courses offer experiences during the holidays, designed as tasters for colleges such as Cut Above Academy, NZ School of Tourism, and Techtorium. These courses help you explore potential career paths by providing practical skills and insights directly from industry professionals.
